News U Can Use: "Staples Uses Tweens as Designers"

When it’s time for school supply shopping this fall, a few middle schoolers will be able to purchase backpacks, folders and pencil cases that they dreamed up themselves through Staples’ Designed by Students initiative.

Together with design education experts aruliden, the office supplies giant partnered with middle school students at Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia and M.S. 88 in Brooklyn to teach them about the product design process and create marketable ideas.

As students learned about the work that goes behind taking a problem to prototype, Staples’ designers guided each group of three through the process of conceiving, researching and presenting their ideas for new school supplies... READ MORE AT "PSFK"
