Monday Morning Video Inspiration: "Always #LikeAGirl"

Be aware in your youth ministry of how we communicate and respect the girls of our ministries.  Especially of those of us who are male youth workers, we need to be very careful of the words we use and the attitudes we reflect when it comes to our MS/JH girls.  We are often God's voice and vision in their lives.

Our girls are "fearfully and wonderfully made", "made in the image of God", and when we demean them, even jokingly, we are belittling God's creation and God's image.

Just a quick Monday Morning Video Inspiration and Challenge!

News U Can Use: "6th Grader Takes on the World in Pro Golfing"

"Lucy Li is a typical tween in many respects. The sixth grader has braces, wears zebra print tops and polka dot skirts, and rocks a mean high pony tail. She lists her interests as painting, swimming, and dancing.

Her golf skills, however, set her apart from every other tween in the world. On Thursday, Li will tee off on Pinehurst No. 2 in the North Carolina for the 69th United States Women’s Open"....

Be Back in Two Weeks....

Be back around in 2 Weeks.  I have some new and exciting things coming up in my ministry, along with some BIG changes.  I will be back here sharing some of that in the near future. In the mean time, as always feel free to look around and use whatever you like in your own ministry.  Feel free to share it with others as well, that is why it is here.

Thank for being part of this 3 year experiment and being one of the over  100,000 hits to this little space.  I will continue to share what I have and what has worked...and some times not worked.  Leave me a comment and let me know how you have used, tweaked and benefitted from something you found here, I always love hearing how and where my stuff is used.

See you late-June!

Hint/Help #12: "Holla Back Young'Un" (*interviewing)

A Quick 60 Second Hint and Help for the Summer Time 'Interviewing Season'!

Interview Your Senior Pastor Back Before Taking a Position.

Prepare a set of questions of your own to ask the senior pastor of the church you are interviewing at. The process can sometimes become way too one sided. Make sure you know as much about the Senior leader, as they know about you before you accept a job.

Especially in larger churches where the process in going through a human resource person, executive pastor, or youth committee request time to talk to the Senior pastor whether in person or on the phone farther along in the process.

Sample Questions:
- What is your leadership style?
- What is your vision for the church in the next 5 years?
- What do you think this church's great strength is?  weakness?
- What will be our relationship?
- Tell me about your ministry calling?
- What is one thing you would like to see happen in the youth ministry?
- Do you have an "open door" policy?
- How long do you plan on being here?

Teaching Clip #22: "The Thank You Jesus Test" (w/verse suggestions)

Matt. 7:7-8
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

1 Peter 3:12
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

News U Can Use: "Mike the Ruler, 13 Year Old Online Fashion Star"

"...Not so long ago, Mike was into Legos. Everything changed when, in 2011, he saw the Alexander McQueen show at the Met. “These clothes were very overwhelming,” he says. “They were dark. Some were disturbing and beautiful at the same time. And it felt like they were demanding something. It put this thought into my head that clothes were important and they have their own personalities and they tell stories when you wear them....”
